Efa Lois is a Welsh artist and writer. 

Fluent in both Welsh and English, she uses her art as a way to communicate ideas about climate justice and sustainability, as well as Welsh folklore, history and culture. 

She has been the official illustrator for the Tafwyl festival since 2018.

Efa’s illustration work has featured in publications by Visit Wales, Cadw and Narberth Museum. 

Efa has illustrated books for Angharad Tomos (Henriet y Syffrajet, 2018), Lleucu Roberts (Y Stori Orau, 2021), and Jon Gower (Cymry o Fri, 2022).  

She has illustrated album covers for Casi & The Blind Harpist, Catty, Hidden Pianos, and Elis Derby. 

Projects

Since 2019, Efa’s ‘Welsh Witches’ project has documented 90 witches from Welsh folklore. You can find out more about the project here.

Since 2017, Efa has worked with the poet Morgan Owen on ‘Rhithganfyddiad’, a project that documents Welsh places through art and poetry. Prints resulting from the project are available here.

In 2017, Efa founded the Welsh women’s history website ‘Prosiect Drudwen’, which now contains biographies and illustrations of over 80 Welsh women.
